Are Chiropractic Services an eligible Medical Expense?

This is a great question if you’ve just experienced the first snow storm of the year and have ended up in a fender bender like I did just this past weekend.  I was in Brandon Manitoba for the annual CGA Conference.  Two of the sessions I attended were lead by Dan Belhassen from Modern Earth.  One was entitled Reboot 2020: You vs the Cloud.  It was an excellent presentation which made me open my mind to how Corporate Care could offer better service by employing cloud based applications.  The second presentation was a whole day event entitled Demystifying the Internet.  This was a fantastic overview of social media and how it fits into the business world.  I highly recommend if you have an opportunity to hear Dan speak to take it.  You won’t be disappointed.

Let’s get back to chiropractic services.  I was supposed to drive back to Winnipeg with my husband on Saturday November 10 but the snow storm that spanned from Alberta through Saskatchewan into Manitoba and onward seemed to be still swirling.  We decided to hunker down and drive back home on Sunday.  Overnight the #1 highway was closed to traffic.  It opened around 10:30 Sunday morning and off we drove.  About 3 kilometers past Brandon we got caught in the white out of a semi truck passing us.  Another semi truck was right behind the truck that passed us, and didn’t see us in the blast of snow from the first truck.  We were slammed from the rear and our van was thrown about fifty feet into the ditch. Fortunately no one was hurt.  Not even a scratch.  The emergency responders told us we were lucky and to look at the whole thing as an inconvenience.

We do feel very lucky. As the days progressed however, we are feeling the muscles strains and a couple of bruises have appeared. My husband’s back is hurting and a visit to the chiropractor may just be the right thing to do right now.  All chiropractic fees can be claimed through your Corporate Care plan.  So if you find yourself in even just a fender bender and are a bit concerned, go seek a medical assistance.  If autopac doesn’t look after the chiropractor or massage therapy costs, rest assured that you can expense them as a business expense through Corporate Care.

Drive safe this winter and buckle up.  Seat belts really do save lives.
