Gone PHSPing

If a business has a sign like this on the door, you can be sure that it’s a business run by an astute owner.

Corporate Care is a Private health services plan (PHSP).  It’s a flexible and cost effective way for a small business to obtain tax-free health and dental coverage.  It’s a transparent and hassle-free compromise to an insurance plan.

All sizes of businesses can benefit from a Corporate Care PHSP starting with the single-person business or the business just starting out. With Corporate Care’s no set up fees, no sign up fees commitment, there is no risk to the business owner. All of the costs are controlled by the business owner.

For the company with a few employees, it’s the perfect solution.  Sometimes it’s difficult for employees to agree to what they want covered or don’t want covered in a health benefits plan. Some employees need orthodontic coverage for their children while others have needs for certain prescription drugs or vision care.  PHSPs let the employees pick and choose where to spend their benefits dollars.

The Corporate Care PHSP is even a great benefit when a traditional plan provides the best solution for your company, particularly if you have hundreds of employees.  It can be used as a top up plan to provide a bit of flexibility to employees and help in reducing the premiums from the insurance plan.

Once you’ve figured out how to PHSP, you’ll love it.

“Gone Fishing”

Fishing has its benefits for business owners, too.  It’s relaxing and gets you in touch with nature.  It gets you outdoors.  There are no age restrictions.  Fishing is a great way to bond with family, from kids to grandparents.

“The Benefits of Fish”

Fish is low in fat, high in protein and an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Researchers have found there are health benefits of eating fish regularly – one or two serves weekly. It reduces the risk of heart disease, lowers blood pressure, helps manage blood sugar levels, an may relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, to name a few.

Minding the P’s and Q’s of Private Health Services Plans

Claims tip:
Did you know that Podiatrist services, Psychologist services outside a hospital or institution, and Private or semi-private hospital rooms are expenses not covered by Manitoba Health.  However, these services do Qualify as medical expenses that can be claimed through Corporate Care.

Practioners and Paramedical services tip:
Physiotherapists and remedial massage therapists provide effective treatments to deal with muscle aches and pains, especially with sports or stress related injuries. Visits to qualified medical practitioners are an important part of staying healthy and the costs of these treatments can be claimed through Corporate Care.

Quick stress relief tip:
To quickly calm and energize yourself, engage in one or more of your senses—your sense of sight, sound, taste, smell, touch, or movement.  Everyone responds differently to sensory input, and you may have to take a moment to think of which is your preferred sense.  If you are visual, you may want to take a moment to gaze at a favorite vacation photo. Enjoying a well-brewed cup of coffee combines both taste and smell.  Or standing up to stretch your arms over your head might do the trick.  Conscientiously engage one or more of your senses to find which sense quiets and focuses your nervous system.  Then when your day gets a little too crazy, stop and ‘smell the roses’ for fast acting relief and a burst of energy.
